these started with the little wrapper papers from a sampler box of chocolates - flattened, folded, a few scissor snips - the paper stayed sort of cupped, rather than lay flat, so I put each under my water glass and took a picture - the reflections on the sides of the glass add more complexity than there actually is

side-by-side billboards present a unique venue for economic storytelling and, as such, an opportunity for a large-scale homage to the multi-panel comic strip and an unexpected alternative to the shrinking comics pages of the beleaguered newspaper industry.

Embottled embattlers: Moby Dick and Ahab. A peg-leg jpeg.

Dinosaurs are extinct. Horny projections and objectification, not so much.

Over easy, over hard. Sometimes a dozen-to-one underdog can scramble the odds.

Scientific progress. One small tweak for a Viking, one giant leap into space.

Evasive tactics. Hunter/prey/prayer.

Anty-pasta. Tongue-tied tongue-twister.

taking a knee seems like such a reverent statement of protest for the senseless loss of black lives - it reminds me of Arnold Friberg's painting of George Washington kneeling in prayer at Valley Forge

The way the Hamilton poster uses Hamilton's figure for the top of the star made me think, what else could top the star? A witch's hat. Who played the most iconic witch ever?

After 3 years of tutoring young people with dyslexia, I'm tempted to describe it as a brain difference that makes people funnier, more clever, and better looking, but it makes reading a belittling, frustrating challenge. For them. To the listener, every sentence is an adventure, a minefield we can actually help them navigate successfully. During the moments a student is decoding a text, I doodle, on anything handy. These are all on 3" X 5" index cards. I'm posting them because one of my students told me it's been awhile since I put up anything new. My students are always trying to teach me. Sometimes I learn.
